Copenhagen Calling!

The Copenhagen area of Rotary has announced the following competition, to coincide with the International Climate Conference that will take place in Copenhagen.

Please write an essay in which you describe your vision of society in 2050, including a description of your own role and place in the society of the future. Your essay must describe which subjects you imagine that you have studied at university in order to fulfill your vision. Your essay should adopt a global, rather than a local, point of view. Emphasis should be placed on your description of life in the year 2050. In your essay you may include one or more of the following topics:

* Climate and landscape
* Demography
* Traffic patterns
* Production of food
* Quality of life
* Patterns of family life
* Living accommodations
* Production of energy
* Business structures
* Innovative technology

The finished essay must be between 3-5 standard pages i.e. 1,300 letters per page, excluding footnotes, illustrations, references and appendices. The essay must be written in English and must include an abstract of max. 10 lines. A line spacing of 1.5 is required.

The first prize is 8.000 EURO and a trip to Copenhagen, the second prize is 3.000 EURO and the third prize is 1.000 EURO!

The winner will be required to give a 15 minute presentation of his or her vision of the future in connection with the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark, in December, 2009. If the winner is a group, only one representative will travel to Copenhagen. The presentation will take place December 10, 2009 at 4.30 PM in Nordatlantens Brygge, Strandgade 91, 1401 Copenhagen K.
The jury consists of high-ranking representatives of the academia as well as the business world.
